Who am I?

My name is Nick Stevens and I am 24 years old and I currently live in Sydney, Australia!

I have completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Sport & Exercise) in my previous education and have a background in Active Afterschool Care and I think children are the most amusing organisms to walk this earth. My previous study has allowed for me to understand the effect of exercise and healthy eating, disease, disability and overall stress has on a child, physically and socially/emotionally. This knowledge is definitely of assistance when it comes to interacting with children in my daily routine, conveying this in the classroom further.

Being the 2nd eldest of 7 boys in a single parent family has helped me to realise the importance a little attentiveness and assistance has to children, turning their day around or even just putting a smile on their face being a priceless asset. Being a family-based boy and the only driver that doesn’t work full time, I find myself taking my brothers out and spending time with them over my friends, which doesn’t phase me at all. Without my organizational skills to juggle family, my amazing girlfriend, gym, bike riding and university I don’t think I would have got this far. This experience, amongst my Active Afterschool Care work has influenced my entrance In to my Master of Teaching (Primary) which I completed at the Australian Catholic University in 2014.

I have since been teaching in the Parramatta CEO across many schools in the Western Sydney district, enjoying the chance to implement pedagogy in practice at every chance i get inside the classroom.

I am not the quiet achiever, letting anyone and anyone know how I can help them in any way I can, or sharing my results freely and with an opinion. I can happily say that I am an optimistic, organised and extroverted individual, which I would love to influence my teaching practices in the near future  in becoming the best teacher I can be.

They say that “If you have a job you love, you never work a day in your life”, so I am more than prepared to dive in to the teaching occupation whenever the opportunity presents itself 🙂

Here is a picture of my beautiful family, I am at the top row in the black shirt!
